Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 On the bright side, Wang is burning up a lot of pitches.Nice, Carlos!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Delgado comes thru despite getting totally ripped off!

He just caved too easily on the consultation. Good for getting the call right, but a crew chief should be a better leader.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Jeter thinks Reyes shot from yesterday was foul, too.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 The game wouldn't be slowed down to the extent that Morgan fears if replay was only used for fair/foul calls on potential homers.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 That was a pretty eventful inning. The Gods owe us two runs.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 What the heck is Morgan's "call him a journalist, not a reporter?"I'm a journalist. There's nothing wrong with being called a reporter.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 I really, really like that trade.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 From firejoemorgan.com:Kurt (NYC): What are your overall thoughts on the Mets this season?Joe Morgan: I've been asking myself the same question. You've been asking yourself what your own thoughts are on the Mets this season? They can't come up with any consistency.I would like someone who knows how to do such things to go through every one of Joe's chats since he started chatting and find out how many times he has used the word "consistent" or any of its noun/verb/adj./adv. forms. My guess: the highest number calculable by machines. They can look like the best or worst team in the majors. That has marked them this year and at the end of last year. Their players are not producing together. I don't know how good they can be, if they can be the team that I picked to win this year. They're an enigma.Perfect Morganian anti-analysis. I dunno. Something's wrong. "Their players aren't producing together." I don't know how good they can be. Huh. Weird. Geez. Gosh. Heavens to murgatroid. (Shrugs.)I will now answer this question without looking anything up.I think the Mets are underperforming because Reyes, Beltran, and Delgado are underperforming, though I think Beltran's OPS is actually pretty good, like low-800's. They're being carried by Ryan Church, which is nice, but probably not the recipe for success that Minaya had in mind. Their starters are fine -- Santana is Santana, and will only get better as he adjusts to the NL parks. Pelfrey and Perez are serviceable-to-good, and Maine is having an excellent year so far. Wagner is still lights-out. So, with a solid pitching staff and a decent pen, you'd expect them to speed up their winning ways over the next few months, because you assume that those good hitters will anti-regress to their means -- if I remember correctly, PECOTA had them at like 92 wins with a +100 run differential.Delgado might be done, but Reyes and Beltran will heat up. And they'll be fine.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Interesting thing, that space between the line on the wall and the foul pole, but they should take into consideration the angle both are from the plate.Skanks get 2 back on Godzilla's goner.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 These retards are going to talk about the foul pole being in the "wrong" place for the rest of the game aren't they?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Stepped out for a late desert run with my wife and daughter. I insisted we go somewhere with a TV so I could keep tabs on the game. I didn't like the hose job Delgado got on his home run down the line. The Mrs. had to ask me to lower my voice - I believe there were people staring at us.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Call me Steve Nave, but I'm going to call that Oliver Perez's Desgnated Meltdown Inning and believe we're going to be OK.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 On the bright side, I like that they're sending home the message -- with a sledgehammer -- that the umps blew the call.I suspect the head of umpires is seething.
