Met fans are really beginning to embrarass me, and it's time we returned the favor.

Do you know who these two douchewhistles are? Let's revoke their privleges as fans.

The below post and an associated one also at the blog, obnoxious title notwithstanding, referenced a play on Saturday that looked goofy on TV but went unremarked upon -- a foul ball on the first base line caught by a fan who immediately tangles with one iun a different jersey.

Dykstra causing trouble? Nahh. I think I saw this on TV, or at least the front end of it as you described. But it appeared that a fan in a black Mets jersey was involved and he's not pictured.

Yeah that was pretty awkward the way FOX just kept the camera on Burrell standing there and Wagner throwing warmups without remarking on what was going on. Seems to me in a foreign ballpark you should act better than you do at home, not worse.

We don't know that he was wearing that number for Dykstra. He could be an Anderson Hernandez fan.

Philly is an odd place. I've personally never had trouble there, but I've had enough friends who have that I know it's not a recent phenomenon.

I agree with sharpie that one should act better as a fan on the road, not worse. I've always taught my kids that they should cheer for their team but not dis the home team - it's bad form. So far we've enjoyed meeting fans from other teams, chatting with them, etc. - I hope that continues in the future.

yeah, awkwardness on fox is like that with anything. anytime a naked fan runs onto the field, they take the cameras off of them to not promote that stupid behavior... if they had them on those guys... there'll be some morons who'll be like... if i get into a fight, i'll get on tv...

It would encourage your readership to pull out their cellphone cameras whenever there's baggery afoot. They'll be e-mailing you their rouges gallieries from the game.

Mets fans have certainly uncovered some novel ways of getting arrested;

- During this year's home opener, two fans were arrested for trying to steal a seat by smashing it and hiding it under their shirts. The also tried to steal the bunting off the right-field wall.
- Last year a Mets fan was arrested for pointing a high-powered torch into Tim Hudson's eyes.
- When the Padres visited in 2006, a fan posed as a reporter and obtained an "interview" with Mike Piazza. A week later he tried to do the same thing, but was arrested.

I know that was at an Eagles game, but it's the same people involved, by and large.

A separate point - when the wheels started to come off for the Nats last night, MiniKnight yelled out, "Thank You Ryan Zimmerman!" I immediately chastised him and reminded him that we cheer our guys but we don't dis the home team. It's poor form.

In the kid's defense, this is the worst thing I've heard him say as a fan in a visiting ballpark. And I don't think he's going to do that again any time soon.

I'll also say that we were sitting among a good mix on Nationals and Mets fans last night, and that we enjoyed talking baseball with them. It's what out-of-town games are supposed to be like.

When my kids behave like that as a guest in a city, I leave them there to reap the haarvest of the bitter seeds they've planted.

I usually turn around and come back for them after thirty or forty minutes, but the lessons sticks.

Agreed that it's far from the worst thing I've ever heard in a ballpark. But I wanted to impress upon him the concept of being a good guest in another team's home.
