I''ll post him with the rest of the staff, just because it's cool to see Willie using them now in something resembling their likely roles. Remember roles?

NY MetsIP HRERBBSOHRERA
Santana (W, 1-1)6.05001703.15
Feliciano (H, 3)0.10000100.00
Heilman (H, 4)0.20000100.00
Sanchez (H, 2)1.01000005.40
Wagner1.00000101.29

Pretty cool, huh? The Mets led 2-0 going into the bottom of the eighth and busted it open for five runs against Lance Cormier, which is why Wagner didn't get any save.

Santana usually takes a few months to get going. His career ERA in April and May is 4.23 and 4.05 respectively.

Far be it to read too much into his ST performances, but I do get the impression he wants to do a bit better early on, just so he can make life a little easier for himself.

However, should we be worried about he'll hold up in the 2nd half of the season? His line from last year Post - AS Break was not pretty, punctuated by a 4.04 ERA.

The Mets pitching staff leads the majors in ERA, strikeouts and fewest HRs allowed this spring. They are 3rd in fewest walks allowed.

Spring stats may not mean much, but I still like these numbers.

Watched the game and yeah it was good to see Randolph manage like it was a real game, even had Castillo try and bunt a guy over in the first inning. Keith didn't like that though.

Santana looked great, Luke Scott will be happy not to see him again I would think, not worried about Santana's second half last season, not yet anyway.

If Spring results are any indication (and they're often not) we're going to get great pitching, lousy hitting, and get injured a lot.

OK, maybe they are in this case.

I'd say that's exactly what we're destined for.

Problem is that, even if you like that strategically, it's still the beginning for Castillo, and he needs his cuts against live pitching.

Which is exactly what Hernandez was pointing out " we know he can bunt, Luis has great bat control, he needs to be swinging"....or words like that.

Did he get the bunt down, I remember his first two tries were ugly.
