Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Now that one of the best Mets books ever is out, I've been thinking about what hasn't been written and what I can add. The book that needs to be written, that I can't write is The Last Year at Shea, with the author attending each of the 81+ home games this year, interviewing staff and such.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I had this idea a few years back to rip off the guy who wrote Wrigley Field: The Unauthorized Biography. Not a story of the last year of Shea, but of the death of the whole idea behind Shea -- the multipurpose stadium that was about modern convenience and utility and the masses, beaten dead by the idea of exclusivity, faux retro charm and luxury.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 That was exactly going to be my subplot.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I think you could write a book called "Stalking Obscure Mets" where you randomly show up at Josias Manzanillo's family reunion and hide in the back of John Pacella's car. The book will write itself!
