Guest mario25 Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 If you ever get the chance to go to Mets Fantasy Camp, please go!!! It was an awesome week. I got to meet and hang out with former Mets Willie Montanez, John Stearns, Joel Youngblood, Steve Henderson, Doug Flynn, Ron Swoboda, Dyer, Super Joe Mcewing, Ed Charles, Ed Kranepool, Felix Milan and many others. It was an amazing week of baseball and worth every penny. The Pro's were awesome and you could tell they enjoyed being there. The stories the pro's told were great. If you are a Mets fan you will love it.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 More details, please. Which ones were the heaviest drinkers? Who gained the most weight? How did your team do? Who won it all?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I am wearing the green horns of envy!Glad you enjoyed. We really do need all kinds of details. What kind of uniform did you get?
Guest mario25 Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 My team consisted of Joel Youngblood manager,Willie montanez coach and Joe Mcewing coach...Our team won the championship winning 8-1 over a team coached by Jim Mcandrew, Bernard Gilkey and Bobby Wine. The heaviest drinker probably was Pat Zachary.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 We recieved the Mets home pinstriped uni and the road gray uni. The uni's have your name embroidered like the pro game used uni's. We also recieved a Mets jacket, baseball cards and a video. We also play a 3 inning game at Shea this summer.

Guest mario25 Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 3 nights there were activities...2 banquets and a kangaroo court. The other nights we hung out at a bar or restaurant. There is a cool place in Port St Lucie called Duffy's that has a restaurant, bar and bowling alley. We met there and ate dinner drank and bowled. the pro's were there too.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Wow. That may be the first time anyone has ever typed a sentence beginning with "There is a cool place in Port St. Lucie...."
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 ............a kangaroo court., how cool is that? What did Joe Mc say about his years with the team, about Bobby V, Art Howe and the like.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Some day, some day. I'm jealous as hell.Photos?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Sounds like an outstanding time. Please share more of your experiences with us. I would love to do the fantasy camp someday. Hopefully, before I get too old and out of shape to actually run around the bases. I guess most fans would love to experience such a week.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 What does it run, though --- three grand?Unless Joan Jett is my team, I'm a little price-shy.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Joe Mcewing said Bobby V was his favorite Manager and the smartest baseball man he ever knew... soon I will have photos and such from the camp. It cost about 3500 if you set up your own flying arrangements and 4250 if you use all of the Mets accomodations.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Quick Doug Flynn story...he was playing 2b for the Reds and when the inning was over Rose called him over in the dugout....he said to Rose "I am gone arent I" Rose said yes to New York. Flynn asks which NY team and Rose tells him the Mets. Flynn asks "for who"??? Rose tells him Tom Seaver.... Flynn says "STRAIGHT UP" , the whole crowd roared....
