Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I saw where today on Metsblog, the guy wrote about "Long Island bouncers" reporting Reyes was partying too hard this summer. Anyone know where these reports originate?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I noticed the club in question, the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park, is the same one where Lo Duca was allegedly hooking up last year. BYC is nowhere near where one assumes Mets settle for the summer. It's on the South Shore. So there must be some major hotness goin' on there to make it worth the trip.Allegedly.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Not to be naive here but doesn't Reyes live with not only his girlfriend and their two kids but also his parents?, none of that of course would stop him from going on the hunt out the Island but I wouldn't have thought he'd be at that.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 You don't have to be prowling for groupies to be over-partying.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Sorry. Who said it was the Bridgeport Yacht Club? What I mean is, who is reporting these goings on initially? All I saw was Cerone make a reference to it as if it were already reported somewhere. It's difficult to quote the relevant passage since the guy can barely write beyond a run-on senternce, but:]...Reyes, who has been accused of breaking down mentally this season, either from exhaustion, a long pennant race, or, according to bouncers on Long Island, from partying way too much, none of which can be proven, but all of which seem plausible
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 So who was talking to these bouncers, and why? Did a reporter get a tipoff? Or is the insertion of verifiable details when discussing Reyes not possible/allowed?
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 My friend's brother's neighbor's mechanic's son is a bouncer on Long Island.I'll see what I can find out. These bouncers are like old ladies when it comesto stuff. If there's a story, ask a bouncer.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 You misread the article. It says "trustworthy sources close to the bouncers on long island."
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 So I should seek the opinion of the mechanic and not his son. Got it. Thanks.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 we've been through all this before, sports journalists seem to have a much lower barrier of truthfulness, source-checking, and of what constitutes a reliable source than anyone else
Guest holychicken Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Not that close. I would suggest no one closer than the neighbor. In fact, I think you might be close enough.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I read Bridgeview in the comments section yesterday. I'm wary of believing "I know this guy who knows this guy who says this guy..." but, well, it's not like I've got Mets games to watch.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 On WFAN today Francesa & Russo had Omar on and asked him if it was true that the Mets are leaning towards not trying to re-sign Castillo based on his hard-partying influence on Reyes. It wasn't stated as fact, rather a rumor they heard and brought it up to Omar.Minaya said that that was the first he'd heard that - you know what he's sayin'?
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 My first thought upon reading this thread title was that it would be deicated to the winner of our Fantasy Baseball League, since that sounds like a cool team name.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I think all tributaries to Partyboygate can be traced to an original source of KC's goofball speculation on CPF last week.
