Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Tied at 3 - bottom 6th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Headed for the 7th still tied.Russ Springer was the (4th) and most recent StL pitcher.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 The Cards - working with their 7th pitcher of the game - got the Phils out 1-2-3 in the 8th.Cards are out-hitting the Phils 8-2 (who but LaRussa could use 7 pitchers to give up only 2 hits) but the score is still tied at 3
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Stays tied. 3-3.Cards coming to bat in the 8th.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I can't believe this season has come to this; I'm forced to be a Cardinals fan. I think I'm starting to hate baseball.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Sad really that it has come to this, still tied in the 8yh.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 On to the 9th
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Earlier in the game, first inning as a matter of fact, there was a play- Cards SS Ryan missed a sign,..No one on, 1 out.He had 3 balls on him, and he missed the take sign.He flied out to center. When he got back in the dugout La Russa approached him.Now La Russa,....if he's not smiling (and thats rare) he looks mad even on a good day.He goes up to Ryan and says a few things, none nice, I'm sure.Ryan is pulling off his batters glove's looking clueless as Tony berates him, though thats a rather harsh word to use to describe it.I guess what La Russa was saying was something to the effect of "Here's the sign for go hit the showers kid, your outta here."La Russa pulled him. In the first inning.Thats one serious manager there. Its still tied in the 9th.J-Roll batting for the Phils with 2 out.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Phils don't score in the top.Looks like Schumaker, Barden & Taguchi to face Flash Gordon in bottom 9
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Cards get a Ludwick single with 1 out in the 9th.Ludwick runs into an out at 2nd on a missed hit and run.Barden Ks and we go extra's.That pesky David Eckstein was set to pinch hit, but he dont get to the dish.Phils are 9-7 in extra inning games, and have won their last 5 extended contests.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Utley drives it to deep rightfield where Ludwick hauls it in as he hits the outfield wall.Burrell follows with an infield single up the middle, and Bourn will run for him.Ryan Howard is up.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Passed ball and Bourn takes 2nd, and they walk Howard. How that ball got through that catchers legs Ill never know.Oh, thats Kelly Stinnett, lol.Molina left the game earlier due to a fat ass.(he hurt his leg, actually, I think). They walk Rowand and its Dobbs with the bases all red, only one out.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 OH!Grounder to second, he goes home for the force, the throw is in time..but its a low throw, short hops Stinnett, he can't handle it.Run scores.Phils take the lead, and Myers is up in the pen.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Kelly Stinnett, I hate you.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Izzy with a BIG K on Werth.I really think Stinnett should have had the throw, but the 2nd baseman Miles got the error.Izzy gets Ruiz to pop out and the Cards have get that run back.Izzys spot in the lineup will start it off.And it'll be Eck pinch hitting.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 wow.Eck pops out.Im thinkin this is over.Miles, who was batting .500 vs. Myers slaps a chopper over Phils 3rd basemans head. Then Cairo singles to right and its 1st and 3rd.AND THE CARDS GET THE SAC FLY AND TIE IT!That spazio Spiezio gets it done.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Ankiel flies out to end the 10th.Its tied again.4-4.Great baseball here.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Wow. Spiezio vs. Myers. Could they both somehow get ejected and make it possible for me to root for someone else?
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 PHEW.Damn, it's so ironic that we have to root for the fucking Cards now after last year.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Wow, Troy Percival. Coulda sworn he was done.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Rollins singles with one out and now Percival has to face the Phils heart, although at this point its:UtleyBournHowardRollins steals second.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Gotta hand it to those Cardinals fans. They are making some noise.Utley grounds hard to 2nd, easy out, Rollins moves over to third. They want to get Bourn and not face Howard here.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Bourn's swinging at anything close.Well, not anything...he avoids the inside pitches. Its a 2-2 count. And he lifts a shallow fly to center, and it continues.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Myers stays on for the Phils and strikes out the first two Cards in the 11th.How about that,...a closer that can go 2.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Myers was a longtime starter.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Gets a grounder for out # 3.I think I,m the only one here, lol, but I'm sticking with this game and Ill continue to post.At least until I'm no longer Steve Trachsel.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I'm here, for now at least.Damn, I screamed myself hoarse tonight.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Valadius wrote:Myers was a longtime starter.Yes he was.I hate to say i may know the Phils team better than the Mets when it comes to things like that and the intangables. The Mets and have pretty much cut me off from the loop.I did contact my cable company and I can now get the WB 11.On channel 87-9, lol.Course at this point they have like 2 games left to show.Maybe only one .Howard Ks, and that guy who has been a ball on fire, Aaron Rowand is up.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Is Pujols hurt? Or has LaRussa just forgotten, All-Star-Game-style, that he has him available on the bench?
