if he wants to be the MVP, this is his time to show himself.

so far in 07, dwright vs ATL:
[code:1:85cc14e775]AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS
49 5 8 2 0 2 6 4 0 18 1 0 .163 .222 .327 .549[/code:1:85cc14e775]

those are horrible horrible numbers.

18k's in 49 AB's.....

David Wright shone like he was decked out in Swarovski crystals yesterday --- offense, defense, baserunning --- but we still lost. It takes 25.

You want to point a gun at anybody, I can think of many others I'd sooner aim at.

Wright is not winning the MVP ,against Hudson this season he has a .333 avg, which means nothing really....

LoDu was with the Cyclones when they got swept by Oneonta, so he's seen a lot of apparently playoff-bound clubs hit the skids of late.

I care about this weekend in terms of Met wins, not in terms of MVP support, but I can't outright discount Wright as an MVP candidate like irish can, especially the way he's streaking.

Here are the OPS leaders:

OPS
Bonds-SFG 1.073
Jones-ATL 1.008
Utley-PHI 1.000
Pujols-STL .982
Fielder-MIL .976
Cabrera-FLA .973
Holliday-COL .972
Howard-PHI .971
Wright-NYM .951
Ramirez-FLA .945

All those ahead of him are guys who've played significantly less than him (Bonds Utley, Jones), play an easier position than him (Bonds, Pujols, Fielder, Holliday, Howard), play the same position but not as well (Jones, Cabrera), play in an offense-happy park (Holliday), or some combination.

The problem with that thinking is that, while Jones may generally be the lesser fielder than Wright, he's been good this year. I think Jones would be the MVP at this point, if he hadn't missed the time he's missed. I think the race is wide open.

wright can win the mvp. 1/2 of the other possibles for MVP might not make the playoffs, significantly reducing their value. He did well against philly this series, but this whole year, he seems like he's becoming the vocal one on these big series. For all that talk, he hasn't produced against the braves though. it's time for him to come through against them. if he can do it this weekend, he's one of the favorites for mvp this year.
