Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Cox sets all time record for ejections with his fifth inning exit for arguing balls and strikes tonight in Atlanta.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Bud Selig was there to be sure Ted Barrett's thumb was immediately severed, packed in ice and sent to Cooperstown.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I don't know who tickles my funnybone more...Cox or Charlie Manuel. They both crack me up when they're mad
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Cox is a fraud and he probably wanted to break the "record",anyway not like it takes much to get ejected nowadays.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Arguing balls and strikes is virtually a certain ejection.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I know he's the enemy and all, but I've always liked Bobby Cox. I like the way he sticks up for his team. Plus he's just a funny cantankerous guy. I remember one time the Mets and Braves were playing an extra inning game at Shea. Cox was fiddling around with the lineup card upset that he had to make changes because his pitcher couldn't throw strikes. The crowd roared, Cox saw the Mets score the winning run, and then immediately threw the lineup card and pencil away in disgust. He turned and headed into the clubhouse grumbling the whole time. Maybe you had to be there.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Fair enough attgig but I would speculate that Cox got ejected mostly for arguing strikes and balls, always trying to show up the umpires and just being a bollox and I bet he knew when he was getting close to John McGraw even though he says it's a record he didn't want.
