Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for June 2007 is JOHN MAINE. Maine won 3 games and lost 2 in June, and posted an ERA of 2.66 in 40.2 innings. This is the first Player of the Month win for Maine. This is the third time that he's been the Pitcher of the Month. He won the Pitcher of the Month award previously in July 2006 and April 2007.http://leaptoad.com/mets/jpeg/1977JohnMaine.jpgMonth-to-date totals for June 2007Through game of June 30, 2007RankNamePoints1John Maine19.142David Wright18.763Jos Reyes16.584Carlos Beltran14.285Tom Glavine12.366Jorge Sosa12.247Paul Lo Duca12.068Orlando Hernandez11.709Carlos Gomez11.4410Carlos Delgado11.2811Oliver Perez9.3212Shawn Green7.7213Billy Wagner7.2014Ruben Gotay6.3315Pedro Feliciano5.6716Aaron Heilman4.9817Damion Easley4.9318Ramon Castro4.4919Guillermo Mota3.8820Ricky Ledee3.7121Scott Schoeneweis3.2922Jos Valentin2.7623Joe Smith2.2624David Newhan1.5025Julio Franco1.2326Endy Chavez0.7127Aaron Sele0.5228Ben Johnson0.28
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Another shocker! Congrats to John Maine, POTM.Check out Gomez outscoring Delgado & Newhan outpacing Franco.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Nice win for Maine. If ever there was a month for a pitcher to get the victory this June was it. Most of the offense was missing in action for the majority of June and the pitcher's were left with little minimal run support to work with in most games.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 It would have been an ugly win if a stray vote or two threw it to David Wright. Congraualtions, Vacationland.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 I LOVE the 1977 Topps-style photo. Nice work!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 I don't think a Wright win would have been that ugly. In June he hit .323 and slugged .583 with 6 homers, 15 runs, 16 rbi, and 7 stolen bases. He was the best offensive player for the Mets in June. But I'm glad Maine won, and he is deserving.
