Guest iramets Guests Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Q: When you say "Rickey still wants to play ball, Rickey ain't retired yet" but baseball tells you (you're Rickey, of course) "No, you're retired," are you really retired?A: You're retired. The idea that this is peculiar is ridiculous. He talks as if these circumstances (washed-up player with marginal skills and more diva characteristics than Roger Clemens, A-Rod and Madonna being rejected by MLB) have never existed before.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Always good theater though.Until something's at stake for you team.
Guest attgig Guests Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 it's silly that ricky has been written off for the last 3-4 years, while franco got a 2 year contract.....franco who's only good position is 1b, and can do 3b in a pinch (please don't ever put him in 3b again willie).Ricky who can run and play all OF positions.i guess there's more young kids in the OF than 1b?either that or ricky has to prove himself a pinch hitter....
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I would wager that Rickey could play first base and be more productive off the bench than Franco.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Well you gotta figure Rickey's an able enough athlete to learn how to play first adequately. I assume he'd be faster than Franco, be able to finagle more walks and be, if not a 'threat' on the bases, then at least give a team more speed once there, no?You don't think he could hit as well as Julio has?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 It's hard to judge, but I think he could hit as well by walking more, probably with less extra base power. I think he could certainly run better --- twice as well --- but he'd be lost at first, and that's what I'd be betting on.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Time to activate Rickey.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 When the rosters expand, could they technically include Rickey or does he have to be in the system?
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 And what's the point here, guys? Thread's been dead for almost 90 days.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 The point is that rosters expand in a few days.
