Guest iramets Guests Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Normally, Chris cuts all the malapropisms, but Mike just uttered a beauty--"some of these Yankees right now, at least three or four of them, literally stink."
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 If only those Yankees were more like the Philies of old...http://www.ballparktour.com/StadiumsBakerBowl_photo5.jpgYet they still stunk.

Batty31 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 My Avon lady is a big Orioles fan...so she writes HATE IT across any Avon catalogs that she gives me with Jeter on the front. LOL! She said when the cologne first came out her district manager advised her to order several bottles in advance, and she refused.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 ]May 31, 2007BREAKING NEWS: FRANCESA TO A.M! . . . for nowAs an old newspaper guy I hate breaking stories on a blog, but . . . well, what can you do? It's a new world. So here goes:Starting Monday and through the end of June, Mike Francesa will end the parade of guest hosts in morning drive time at WFAN and work Don Imus' old slot - sometimes joined by partner Chris Russo and occasionally perhaps with Russo going solo without Francesa. The twosome will continue to do their afternoon show together, although Russo might be alone at times to give Francesa a break from constant double-shifting.The duo will do some special shows during the month, including their usual remotes and also programming tied to the station's 20th anniversary."I'm pleased with the guest hosts we’ve had on in recent weeks,'' operations director Mark Chernoff said, "but what we’re doing with Mike and Chris is they’re our marquee players and obviously it’s good exposure for them. So for the next four weeks the schedule will have one or both of them on in the morning.''Chernoff said nothing has been decided for after June, but it's likely the summer will be the usual mish-mash of fill-ins with Francesa and Russo on vacation much of the time. The move will lead to speculation that Francesa and Russo might be moved to mornings permanently, but all indications are that remains a longshot.Posted by Neil Best at 2:00 PM
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 oh fudge. After Imus left, those shows with M&MD in Imus's slot was about the worst radio i've ever heard... ever... in my entire life.i've started listening to Mike & Mike on ESPN radio1050, which is not great radio either, but at least i don't find it physically nauseating to listen to them.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 That time-slot has become a huge fucking mess for FAN and it sounds like it will continue to be one for the foreseeable future. In addition to M&MD, they must have trotted out about 15 different guys for various length trials and auditions and it's been mostly a disjointed parade of mediocrity. Even some of the veteren news-hounds, who you figure would know what to do with a microphone in front of their noses, have sounded lost.

That was nauseating beyond my powers of description.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 That would be something if they got Stern to replace Imus.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 It once amazed me...how many M&MD haters never miss a show.I'm used to it now.
