It's hard to think of a fatter comedy target than figure skating. It's pompous, there's the fact that chicks love it and guys barely tolerate it, the gay undertones, the cattiness, the stage moms, corrupt judges, Tonya Harding scandals, etc etc etc...

So I'm hopeful but wary, since Ferrell IMO missed a target nearly as big with his (mostly) unfunny NASCAR movie.

I'm telling you, Will is best looked at through the lens of his entire oeuvre, rather than flim by film. His comedic chops fit in a very small bag, but he's got a big idea.

From what I've seen of both his SNL & movie career (admittedly not a lot) he always strikes me as a talented guy who spends much of his time in search of better material.

I finally saw this tonight and LOLed almost the whole way through. Better than Ricky Bobby. Maybe better than Anchorman! Just if not more stupid than either, but funny. I liked it!

If you're stuck on an airplane, it passes the time. It's silly but it doesn't take itself seriously, and the mockumentary moments are very funny.

less funny than i'd hoped. Personally, i preferred Ricky Bobby. There are a few very funny scenes, but mostly not so much.

Once they showed him doing an (absolutely awful) routine to "The Stroke," this film owned me. I couldn't help it. I had to surrender.
