Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I'm glad somebody else has a top-ten prospect besides MFS62.

But I don't jump on every highly rated prospect. As you said, they have to have something about them that is intruguing to me. I have adopted many of them before they appeared on any top 10 list, many before they were on any list, even a top # 30.Why did I not adopt Corey Ragsdale, who was a highly touted #2 pick? Because I didn't think his raw "tools" would translate into his becoming a productive ballplayer.I picked (as it turns out the wrong) Enrique Cruz because I thought he was a one time prodigal son returning to the organization after having been lost in the Rule V Draft. If it had been the same player I thought he was, it would have been an interesting story.I picked Martinez and Pelfrey before they had played a single minor league game, much less appeared on any top x lists, and they were still a crapshoot. Alay Soler had already appeared on many top X lists before he had appeared in a minor league game, but I didn't adopt him.And I picked Henry Owens because he had been a Pre-Med student and a catcher before the Mets turned him into a relief pitcher. Yes, he has a fastball in the high 90's, but reliever Matt Lindstrom throws closer to 100 MPH, has been in the organization longer, and has appeared on many top X lists. But I adopted Owens because his story grabbed me.I thought I had explained this before. Maybe you didn't understand. I am NOT the cherry picker you make me out to be. But if that the way you feel, so be it.BTW- I don't think this is a Red Light Issue. Just a misunderstanding of my actions.Later
