Guest KC Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Johnson need to be strapped up and carried off, hate to see that stuff.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I just came back in, and he's being lifted onto a stretcher. What happened?
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Oh damn. That knee does not look like the way a knee should. And yeah, I really wish Pinella would shut up. They don't get the stretcher when someone gets their wind knocked out, you blathering moron.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Pop-fly collision between Kearns and Johnson.Looks like a broken leg, which is probably good news*.*They hit head-to-head.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Look at Kearns, blaming himself.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Kearns and Wright both look pretty torn up about this and the look on Johnson's face is painful. This ain't good.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Holy Jesus what a catch by Zimmerman.
Guest martin Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 zimmerman is miked up, i would like to hear that play.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 How awesome is this game?Let's keep this up!!!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I think Tim Welke has a dinner reservation. Two bad punchouts.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Wagner only gives up hits & runs in crucial situations.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Now Billy, I know you've got a big lead, but please close out the game already!
Guest KC Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Mets hold on and win 12-6.Some odd stuff today ...- Reyes gets thrown out trying to steal second on a foul out to the catcher.I was disappointed that FOX didn't show one freakin' replay of the slide andtag - unless my memory is off. Not sure if I've ever seen that before.- Lou Freakin' Pinella needs the production staff to break out the rule bookand tell him why a runner advances after a player goes into the stands to catch a foul ball. I think they got the call wrong, but Boo on Lou ... managerswho are lauded as big time winners should know shit like that. - The Nick Johnson play, he went a long way for that ball. Kearns lookedlike it really shook him up.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Fick came right out to play first but Kearns stayed out there for a minute or two longer before getting taken out too.The Mets shut off all the music, scoreboard animations, stupid "ev'rybody clap yo' hands" etc. after the injury. Notably no Enter Sandman playing. Music returned as they won with Taking Care of Business.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I hate him but Fox sports apparently love him, I hope he's not doing any Mets playoff games altough I fear he will be.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 So Johnson has a fractured right leg,not good, get well soon.
Guest martin Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 i thought he broke his lower leg, but he broke his femur! eek, that hurts, i think the femur is the biggest fattest strongest bone we gots. he must have really punished his leg to snap that thing.vidro claims he heard it snap, i bet that wasnt pleasing. i guess that was why he was signaling for help even as he was fielding the ball.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 That guy has legs like redwoods, how he managed to break his femur of all bones is amazing. And awful.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I was thinking, "Jeez, Dave, show some class and stop at second. If the last standing fielder is calling for help and all..."Not really fair, I guess.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I too was surprised by Wright not stopping at second. If some blame falls to Wright some should also fall to Manny Acta (who's supposed to be watching the play instead of just running) for not stopping him.

When I picked my son up off the ground his leg from the knee down was just sort of hanging and flopping. We'd thought he'd ripped ligaments in his knee but ultimately it was the femur.Yup - biggest bone in the body. Our son had to be put in almost a full body cast (from his chest down both legs) to ensure that he kept his hips immobilized. 9 weeks before that cast came off. Ugh.I don't know if keeping the hips immobile is as much of a concern for an adult so maybe Johnson just gets one leg in a cast. in any case its a nasty, nasty injury.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Usually with a broken bone the idea is to immobilize the next highest joint - which is obviously the hip in this case.Whatever the case, this isn't going to be a fun time for Mr. Johnson. He's been spooked by injuries during his short career to date.
