Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 When things are going good, it seems everything goes well. The Mets sent out a squad of hung over backups behind Tom Glavine last night. Many playing at positions they had not manned for years. The rag tag squad, of which Endy Chavez would probably be considered the marquee player, still managed to pull out a victory behind a strong pitching performance from Glavine. The light hitting Anderson Hernandez, playing shortstop and hitting leadoff, had his career night at the plate. He went two for three, including the first home run of his major league career. Lastings Milledge and Michael Tucker each added RBI singles for the Mets attack. Meanwhile, Glavine pitched eight masterful innings while allowing only four hits to the Marlins regulars. Billy Wagner came on in the ninth inning and blew away the final 3 Marlin hitters for his 39th save of the season. So grab a cold bottle of Black Jack Porter from the Left Hand Brewing Company and toast our role players while enjoying a rather improbable victory.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 There is plenty of beer for all to enjoy, but there can only be one player of the game. You are of course free to right in Woodie for POTG if you think he is deserving of the honor.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Too late. I didn't see an "other" option, so I voted for Glavine.Later
