Guest mets1962 Guests Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 has this ever been shown on tv ( mets classics) or available on video or dvd?? I never see it?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 I highly doubt the footage of ANY network postseason game in 1969 (The World Series and LCSs) exists in complete form. (Not talking about the highlight films done by the teams and MLB) From what I gather the early 70's is when the networks started getting their act together in complete archiving of sporting events. Sure bits and pieces still exist thanks to kaladiscoping (sp, basically someone made a recording of whatever was appearing on a TV monitor) and whatever original tape survived, but the actual complete game footage from NBC is lost to history.I'm under the impression that 1975 is the oldest surviving complete World Series, hence it got released on DVD earlier this year, and the 1973 World Series game that gets shown on ESPN Classic from time to time (the long one, Game 2 I believe with the Buddy Harrelson play at the plate) is the oldest nearly complete surviving World Series gameThe 1969 World Series Highlight Film will be re-released on DVD (on a single disc with the 1986 one) later this month
