Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Per WFAN:Mets acquire reliever Roberto Hernandez & LHP Oliver Perez for OFer Xavier Nady
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Poor X-man.Oliver Perez, at one time, was the shizznit.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 At this time, though, he's Lima from a different teama.I don't know what his wife looks like.Yet...
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Perez was outstanding 2 years ago, whether he can ever reclaim that i don't know, but this is a trade that needed to get done following the unfortunate injury to Sanchez. With Chavez playing well and Milledge still here Nady was pretty expendable.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I don't think it needed to get done.Assuming the role that Nady had on this team is of equal value ot the role Duaner played, replacing Nady with internal parts seems a lot more difficult than replacing Sanchez.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 That doesn't add up to Bell replacing Sanchez, as he's not getting Sanchez's innings. He's getting back-end work with other guys getting incrementally more challenging work.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I would have rather seen Milledge go for a starting arm than X-Man for two bullpen arms. The Mets are going to take the division so you need three starters for the playoffs. Pedro, Glavine and Schmidt/Oswalt. El Duque goes to the pen to take the Sanchez spot.
