Damn - Cliff strikes out :(

He took some mighty swings there tho.

Looks like Houston will once again go to the pen for Springer.
2 out 1st and 3rd, Mr. Franco to PH.

The Mets are readying Wagner for the 9th.

And another pitching change.

Jermaine Dye's commercial for the Boys and Girls Club is cute - I liked seeing him jumping up and down with the World Series trophy with the kids.

Father Time is pinch hitting for Sanchez. Wagner is going to pitch the 9th.

The Something Awful forum goons made some great parodies of these.

lol--those are great.

I may make a series of cartoons called The Adventures Of Jose Valentin, just to take advantage of his cartoon chin, porno mustache, and point-ed eyebrows.

Wags does his job- Mets win!

And we are 21 games over .500.
21!
________21!

]Meatloaf has shown up at all sorts of ballparks this week - it was on the MLB.com site

Which means that there's some sort of cross-promotion deal working here.
I said this before in another thread, but we can complain about FOX all we want I just think it's a bit naive to believe that if MLB handed the package to a different network that they wouldn't be doing pretty much the same sort of stuff, and promoting their tie-ins, and "finding" actors in the stands who just happen to be in a show on their network which debuts right after the World Series, and so on.

The El Duque executioners were a bit premature today - and the old geezer may have saved hisself of job with today's outing. It would be nice to assume that the young'uns are going to improve with every start and that the aging end of the staff is going to remain healthy & happy from now until October ... but let's not be too eager to throw out servicable starting pitchers until we're sure that all of the above is true.

P.S. Was thinking (at the time) about PH-ing Wright for Woodward in the 8th in that bases-loaded/2-outs/1-run lead situation.
No doubt it gives you the better chance to widen the lead (and therefore win the game) and Willie didn't take it - even though Wright could just simply slot in for Woody in the field for the 9th. But you also don't want to discard guys like Woody by yanking them whenever the heat's turned up and a July game with a double-digit lead hardly qualifies as a do-or-die game. I agree with him sticking with Woody there.

It's nice to see the Mets wear the blue caps/pinstripes today.

I'm amazed that the Astros let their starter pitch into the 9th. He pitched well, but his pitch count must be up there...

wow - and the Mets' starter is pitching into the 10th...

One of the best concerts I ever saw was when I saw MeatLoaf at a hotel in Tipperary when I was about 16....the place held about 1000 people and it was an amazing show...me and my friends snuck in a flagan of cider each and got hammered......we still laugh about it.

="OlerudOwned"]El Duque gets Orlando Palmiero to retire the side and end is outing.

Palmiero is familiar to me soley because he was my weak hitting bench player for the World Champion Twins on Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffey Jr.

That's the good stuff.

I was sick at that game.

I doubt anybody --- with the possible exceptions of thee 1986 Mets and the 1970 Orioles --- ever approached the playoffs with the attitude that they had enough pitching. But what the Mets have now may have as good a chance of coming through in October as they would with anybody may be able to realsitcally obtain --- be he Barry Zito, Juan Brito, or Pedro Beato.

I loathe to say it, but some of those late nineties Yankee teams had good staffs. Especially after 97 when they knew they had Rivera.

Juan Brito would be the easiest to get, but he probably won't be much help unless they pull a Henry Owens on him.

I'm OK with AFoS.

The Loaf has a history of being a big ball fan. He sang at an All Star game once and joked afterward that they had to invite him because John Kruk couldn't be there --- implying that there was some sort of Conservancy Law of Fat Guys with Mullets at work.

I have no idea how distracting he was in the booth. Boy, the first page of this thread really has pitchforks and torches surrounding Castle Hernandez, doesn't it?

Yeah it should be great to see Pelfrey again......Jose Valentin would be comeback player of the year but for Nomar, but that's cool because I root for a guy like Nomar, no idea why but I like him.
