What is M. Donald's contribution to golf?

I assume it's those 18 holes that presumably lead straight to hell from where he uncomfortably watches all the major tournaments.

I wouldn't call that a contribution per se. Nor would I call antagonizing the son of a Walker Cup champion necissarily what we're looking for.

Well, let me think about this.

In golf, an ace is a hole-in-one
That's when your first shot off the tee lands in the hole.

Could his contribution to golf be about the lexicon of that game?
M. Donald Grant was the first person ever to be described as an ace-hole?

Winged Foot, home of this year's US Open is the birthplace of the term "Mulligan." Apparently, a member of the club, Canadian-born hotelier David B. Mulligan, was always late for his tee times, arrived huffing and puffing, shanked his first whack, and told his foresome he'd take a "correction shot." His partners would roll their eyes and let him.

When the USGA sought the origin of the term, they got a letter from Grant, a frequent member of those aggrieved foursomes. They did some digging and his story checked out.
