Guest vtmet Guests Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Does anyone know of a site where you can get defensive splits (mostly home/away) for positional players... or offensive splits for pitchers?2 reasons why...1) David Wright appears to play much better defense away from Shea (or at least appears that way in my limited sampling of watching games on tv)...and also in this month's Sports Illustrated, Chipper Jones complimented DW on his defense and (paraphrasing here) that Shea's infield was the cause of DW's errors...2) Pedro appears to not hit well with the bases empty (probably because he doesn't want to run on his bad toe if not necessary...yet, when guys are on base, handles the bat pretty well...is it my imagination, or are there stats to back it up?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 in 14 at bats with the bases empty, pedro has but one hit and 5 K'sin 14 at bats with runners on, he has two hits, but 6 K's, and also a bbhe is, therefore, more than twice as productive with runners on, than with a duckless pond.http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?statsId=4875&type=batting&year=2006
