Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I hate night games on the west coast. They're just too damn late for most of us in the eastern time zone. At least last night, the Mets rewarded the patience of their faithful fans that stayed up into the late hours to cheer their team on. An eighth inning rally sparked by Julio Franco's historic home run made the lack of sleep worthwhile.Trachsel gave a strong 6 innings to keep the Mets in the game. Then he turned the game over to a succession of relievers that combined to shut down the Padres. Then in the eighth inning, Julio Franco ignited the Mets offensive explosion against the Padre bullpen. There are so many deserving POTG candidates, that it's tough to choose just one. If your choice for POTG is not listed as an option, then simply post their name in bold letters to cast your vote for them.In honor of Julio Franco becoming the oldest player to ever hit a home run in the major leagues, last night's POTG shall receive a 12 pack of Heileman's Old Style to share with his friends.* http://www.40ouncebeer.com/pics400/oldstylebottle.jpghttp://www.40ouncebeer.com/pics400/oldstylebottle.jpghttp://www.40ouncebeer.com/pics400/oldstylebottle.jpghttp://www.40ouncebeer.com/pics400/oldstylebottle.jpg* Okay, it's a 4-pack of 40 oz. bottles, but it can still be shared with friends.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Franco's getting no love whatsoever in the Schaefer polls but running away with it here.
