Reyes had been pitching well for Hagerstown, starting two games and yielding three runs over 11 innings. He was an amateur free agent signed out the Dominican.

This was revenge for the WBC. Of those shown, Arocha is also Domincan like Reyes, Jelinas (actually Gelinas) is Canadian. Sivera is Venezuelan. Only Varner (Texan) is a native of the United States.
