I didn't know Adam Rubin was doing this... I know the News had been promoting a lame Mets v. Yankees blog, but this thing is pretty cool.

He talked about having to change his game story on the fly during the loss (and shows us the never-published "Mets hang on and win" version), does an interview with David Wright, chastises Soupcan for being such a knucklehead, takes your questions, etc etc etc.

Pretty cool.

Wright sounds like a bit of a kiss-up when, unprompted, he names WIllie as his manager of choice on his all-young-kids team. The only sense in which Willie belongs on that team is that he's probably going to learn how to do better when he (or if) he gets a lot more experience. But there are younger managers, and newer managers than WIllie, and there sure are better managers.

Can you ever put a pleasant slant on anything without being unpleasant?

I'm serious, the Mets are off their best start in twenty years, everyone's
hitting, the pitching is good, the bullpen untaxed, nice homestand coming up,
new stadium coming, nice mix of young and old players, etc., etc., etc. Sure
that can all end as quick as it started ... welcome to the bigs ... but ...

Bret: oh that's a cool blog but Willie don't belong here and there are tons
of managers who are better and our young stud is a kiss up bbbyyy.

Do you never tire?

Does every poster have to be a rah-rah LGM clone?

It's real work, that I enjoy doing, to examine things closely, and ask questions about stuff. I really don't get your kneejerk hostility to criticism. In my line of work, criticism helps you test out your ideas and clarify your positions. Criticism is a very positive thing, to me if not to you.

q 1) Was it mandated that Wright name a manager to his all-young guys team? No,

q2) did he do anything unpredictable in naming his current manager as his dream team all young guys manager? No

q3) Might there be some kissup in Wright? Possibly.

q4) Do you have a problem with my mentioning things like this? Apparently.

q5) Why? Maybe there's just not enough positive Rah-team stuff around here for your taste.

I'm not really sure what I wrote that you found so unpleasant, unless having a critical stance on things is just inherently unpleasant in itself, which would be consistent with your "Killbuzz" comments. Is this a place to get high on Metsahol, or a place where we can exchange our views on things related to the Mets? I think we have different answers to that one.

Might it help if you thought of it as a sickness? Think of me as some kind of helpless Tourette's kind of freak, who blurts out unpleasant curses whenever he sees the word "Mets" in print. Tour-mette's, yeah, that's the ticket. Where'd I put those meds, anyway?

Let's Go, Meds!

Yes, clearly this cuts to my point on everything. *rolleyes*

Anyone know a way out of Purgatory? I'll pay good money.

I don't really see how I was being hostile. If you would
have simply answered ...

... the playing field would be much smoother. No name calling, no
bringing up crap from the past, no framing what type of people post
here, and no mischaraterization of the rules here (that aren't here).
You constantly take comments from me to the eighth extreme.

I want to change my user name to "Crap from the past," please.

Do we ever talk about stuff that is NOT crap from the past? Or is it "CRAP" from the past only when I'm right about the crap?

Back to Adam and his David Wright interview -- I loved it. I loved what David had to say about his parents' attitude toward good grades. What can I say? I'm a sucker for that sort of thing.

You want to go one-on-one with me for names called vs. names calling?
I'll spot you an "asshole" and two "pricks."

No thanks, I'm sure your files are much more extensive than mine on what
has gone on in the Mets' internet world the last 5-6 years.

How's the book coming? Is there a screenplay in the works yet? Did you get
the research grant for internet behavioral patterns study?

Keep us posted (and compensated if you make any dough).
