Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I'm opening up this thread for discussion of our annual get together at a Mets game. Here we'll gauge interest, make plans, and discuss particulars. In the Banner Day thread, Rockin' Doc proposed attending the doubleheader against the Marlins on Saturday, July 8th starting at 1:20 PM. I second this proposal.Any one who wishes to add to this idea or offer alternates, here's the place to do it.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 It's a natural. Even without Banner Day.But with it, it's a super-natural.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Not sure I'm in town on July 8. If I am I'm there.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 Not getting much of a response so I'm bumping this just in case folks didn't see it.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I'll go if you guys go, most likely.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 D-Dad is reluctant to commit - if MK doesn't have a Little League game, then D-Dad has something else going on.I might or might not show up on my own.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I'm still melted from the first one.
Guest KC Guests Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I got three more cpfr's to join me for this day. If anyone wants to try and gettickets in our vacinity pm me and I'll send you our coordinates.Start working on banners.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I'll be joining KC - this sounds like it will be a good day. I just hope we won't need the blue tarp lounge...
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I'll be there. D-Dad and MK will be off doing their other stuff.I'll ask D-Dad to make a "Bring Back Banner Day" banner for me.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 As I've been thinking about it while looking at those old schedules in the yearbooks, I think Banner Day is a concept whose time has passed. I suspect that if it was revived it would flop. Some things may be better left in the past.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 You may be right. I'd like to see that argument spelled out, though.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I don't want to hijack the picnic thread, so I replied in the Banner Day thread.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Maybe we should change the title of this thread to "free booze and strippers"?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Parental obligations shall prohibit me from making the journey north to Shea. I'm still dealing with my disappointment.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Are the strippers free, too, or just the booze?
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 Who edited free booze and strippers into my thread title?!?!?!
Guest KC Guests Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Wasn't me, but it's funny.E: >>>Does this yet live or has it died?<<<I think the notion of tailgaiting is kinda dead, doubleheaders are a long day.But I guess I'm game for anything ... need people to chime in, book the girls(and a Sven doll for Mrs. Fields), and stuff.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Look what I'm getting - I bet you guys are so jealous you'll want to sue over the fact that you're not getting one -
