Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 If Book had gone straight to the FBI, none of this would have happened.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Old Amish Guy: Book! That's not our way!Book: Yeaah, well it's MY way... [punches redneck in mouth]
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Old Amish guy is, of course, Eli Lapp. The younger Amish guy getting picked on is, of course, Alexander Godunov as Daniel Hochleitner. But his younger brother, Moses Hochleitner, is played in virtual silence by Viggo Mortenson. But you can see him staring at Harrison's ass in every scene, thinking, "Someday I'll get to pound people senseless as a leading man."
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 It's about as fundamentally pointless as most screenplays, but it made a terrific movie. Peter Weir is one helluva director. I'm going to do a filmography on him, at some point.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Yeah, good point. Whatever direction is, Weir did a great job of it, because it's a cliche-ridden script with big holes* that comes out really well.________________*Question: So, if you get shot in the belly, with an exit wound coming out your back, can you hop in your shitcan car, plug up the wounds, drive to your sister's, pick up two passengers, yell at everybody, drive from Philadelphia to Amish country, let on to nobody that you've been shot, drop off your passengers, drive eighty feet down the road, and only then collapse? Could you? And then could you recover in an apparently short time, with no blood transfusion and the nursing of Amish elders and a comely hostess, to the point of raising a freaking barn?Answer: If you're Harrison Freaking Ford, you can, you wimp!
Guest cooby Guests Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 The Amish can truly raise a barn in one day, even with a gimpy Harrison Ford trying to help.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 No doubt, but John Book was all over that thing, hammering and planing, and stretching out his punctured abdomen.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Harrison Ford made a living as a carpenter, before he hit it big.
