Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Johan Santana starting for Venezuela(I'll keep editing the damn subject line 'til I like it)
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Cuba gets out of a bases loaded jam to cling to their 1-0 lead.To the bottom of the 6th we go, Santana is out and Giovanni Carerra is in.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Heh, blooper time. Vizquel tries to field a potention DP ball, but it bounces right into his shirt.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 5-0 Cuba on a 3 run HR. It comes right after Vizquel goofs on a second potential inning ending double play.---Make it 6-0. Back to back HRs.Giovanni Carerra kinda sucks today
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 This has been a pretty good game so far. Yesterday, the press asked Santana what he thought of Gourriel. Santana responded "To be honest, I don't know who that is." He was then told that Gourriel was pretty good, to which Santana responded, "We'll see."Santana working at around 90/91 mph for the first two batters, went up to 94/95 for Gourriel, who struck out in the first at bat. Santana went back to 90/91 after, until facing Gourriel again in the fourth inning, where he was back to 94/95. He unleashed three nasty changeups and a couple fastballs and Gourriel went down on a vicious changeup away. Santana is just a nasty, nasty pitcher and he REALLY wanted a piece of Gourriel. This Cuban team is pretty solid . . . Marti looked pretty good, with some nasty off-speed stuff. Laza looked good too--and he just fanned Abreu. Nasty. Horrible choice to bring in Carerra. The announcers are really getting on Sojo for not bringing in K-Rod or Silva or someone other than Carerra. WBC was a sweet idea. These games are fun to watch, and I really can't wait for Team America v. Japan. It'll probably be a blowout, but you just never know . . .
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Endy Chavez with a 2-run homer. Can't say I saw that one coming.7-2 Cuba
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 that Lazo guy for Cuba looks pretty good....but why the hell would they leave him in with a 5-run lead when doing so removes him from the rest of the 2nd round (due to pitch limit rules)??
