Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I've found 41 Mets and former Mets players who were active in the major leagues in 2004 but did not play at that level in 2005. Some, like Ventura, Alomar, and Zeile, have officially retired. Others we know are still toiling away, trying to return. But I'll bet a bunch of the others have now started to fade away, and are resigned to a life in the real world. Here's the list. If any of us know anything about the fate of some of these players, or wish to post some parting thoughts, this would be the place to do it.Roberto Alomar Kevin Appier Mike BacsikRigo Beltran Toby BorlandDarren Bragg Craig Brazell Brian Buchanan Mark Corey Jeff D'Amico Wilson Delgado Jeff Duncan Alex Escobar Pedro Feliciano Brook Fordyce Bartolome Fortunato Danny GarciaKarim Garcia Dicky Gonzalez Raul Gonzalez Jeremy Griffiths Ricky GutierrezShane HalterJoe Hietpas Bobby Jones Jeff Keppinger Josias Manzanillo Brent MayneOrber Moreno Rey Ordez Jos Parra Grant Roberts David Segui Esix Snead Shane Spencer Robin Ventura Fernando Vina Turk Wendell Tom Wilson Tyler Yates Todd Zeile

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Not my doing. I have a feeling it'll switch to somebody else when I hit 7,750 posts.

Guest cooby Guests Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Good thing, since your Yancy Street guy seems to break down a lot.I have Rey Ordonez on my Google updates (really!) and though he wanted to come back to the majors this year, it doesn't look like he made it. I think that's the end of his story
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Grant Roberts' quest to make it back to the majors is probably just a pipe dream.Later
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Have David Segui, Fernando Vina, Rigo Beltran, and Toby Borland reached the end of the line?Is Grant Roberts still hanging in there? What about Mark Corey?I also noticed that both of the Whiz Kids, Garcia and Spencer, are on that list. Are they still peeing in parking lots, or have they been forced to resort to urinals like us common folk?
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Turk Wendell went to spring training with the Astros last spring, but didn't make the Major League roster. He opted to retire rather than go to Triple A and take a spot away from a youngster. He was inducted into the Berkshire County Baseball Hall of Fame last fall.
