Top dozen courtroom dramas: Inherit the Wind - how could you not list this movie?

Because I absolutely forgot about it.

I thought The Verdict was a tad overrated. Paul Newman got one of those "long and meritorious service" kinds of Oscars that his performance really didn't warrant.
For example, I thought that Edward Norton really got screwed out of an Oscar for his performance in Primal Fear.

Norton was great in FEAR, but he's usually great. The film was mediocre.

Newman's oscar in VERDICT was well deserved, and Mamet's script and Lumet's direction make this a terrific film, in my view.

Rented and watched the Verdict.

Three thumbs up. I like Newman. Does he belong in the still alive thread? He has to be getting up there.
