Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I was surprised.Shouldnt have been, I guess, considering Phils fans were calling for his head on a stick.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Cashman lives in New Jersey.Philly is right down the turnpike.Later
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2005 Author Posted October 11, 2005 mmmmmmmm......Could be.But the Phils only need a little retooling to get there.I would think he'd want more of a challenge. The Yanks would be fools to let Cashman go, but I do believe he wants out.Wades good moves out weigh his bad moves, imo. They keep on bringing up Shilling and Rolin, but both those players forced trades and Rolin is a bum anyways.Granted, Wade had 8 years to get there, but he assembled a good team.If the Phils get there next year (and they should with some pitching adjustments if they hold on to Wags) the new GM knows he's ridin Wades coat tails.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Zvon,I'd think Cashman would be challenged-out by now.I can't imagine the pressure he was under trying to satisfy Boss George. If all they need is re-tooling, he might look at this as a walk in the park.Later

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 OOH... I just thought of something. If Cashman wants to stick it to Steinbrenner, and get away from the high expectations, he could take the GM position recently opened up in...TAMPA BAY.That would be beautiful, watching Steinbrenner go nuts over losing Cashman to the Devil Rays.
