Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 The 2005 season has seen its share of surprises. I'd like to list my All-Sleeper Team of the year:C - Ryan Doumit, Pit & Miguel Olivo, SD1B - Derrek Lee, ChC & Dan Johnson, Oak2B - Brian Roberts, Bal & Jorge Cantu, TBSS - Jhonny Peralta, Cle & Felipe Lopez, Cin3B - David Wright, NYM & Morgan Ensberg, HouLF - Cliff Floyd, NYM & Carlos Lee, MilCF - Ken Griffey Jr., Cin & Andruw Jones, AtlRF - Jonny Gomes, TB & Jeff Francoeur, AtlUtility - Chone Figgins, LAASP - John Patterson, WasSP - Chris Capuano, MilSP - Jon Garland, ChWSP - Chris Carpenter, StLRP - Derrick Turnbow, MilRP - Chad Cordero, WasRP - Todd Jones, Fla
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Derrek Lee and Andruw Jones arent really sleepers, just having monster seasons. Carlos Lee is a sleeper, unfairly to him, because he had a monster season with the White Sox last year. Figgins made a name for himself last season already filling in everywhere and anywhere. Other than that, its a good list.
Guest GYC Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 If you want to add another RP, how about Roberto Hernandez?
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Francoeur should probably be on there somewhere, and maybe Tony Clark as well.Nice idea, though, and good execution!
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Francoeur is on there, platooning in RF with Jonny Gomes.Tony Clark is a nice choice. I forgot about him for a moment, but ultimately he probably would have missed the list because he's not exactly an everyday player.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Kinda desperate with those catchers, Doumit and Olivo haven't been tearing it up. Chase Utley should prolly be there too.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Clark's been number-one for a while. Many sleepers, almost by definition, won't open the season as a starter.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Chad Tracy is having a very good year under the radar, and can play the IF and OF corners..293/20HR/50RBI/.342OBP
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Stats for the past month:Ryan Doumit: .371, 2 HR, 13 RBIMiguel Olivo: .305, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 2 SB
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 The only surprise about Cornelius is his lack of injury, so I guess he counts?_____________________________This post was made under the posting designation 168) Ellis Valentine
Guest sharpie Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 One month does not a season make.Season stats:Doumit 4-27-253 Olivo 9-33-205 (with a stellar 236 obp).Ramon Castro is better than either of them.
Guest Beenso Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Olivo was supposed to be a sleeper, but he was awful all year...only til he got traded has he been doing good.
Guest Beenso Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Morgan Ensberg has been a heck of a sleeper....He was good 2 years ago, but really fell of last year.
