Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Florida beat St. Louis 7-6.Washington beating Atlanta 3-2 in the top of the eighth._____________________________This post was made under the posting designation 169) Joe McEwing
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Todd "The Factor" Hollandsorth just singled off Gary "Inigo" Majewski.Braves have first and second with one out.My name's Edgy and I'm rooting for anybody behind my team in the standings. Today's my first time rooting for the Nationals ever.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I think Met fans should be pulling for the Nats against the Braves also (they won btw).In addition to the WC race, let's pull 1st place closer back to the pack.So in the NL:Marlins winMets beat Phils, Nats beat BravesHouston beats CincyIn the AL:Boston scores twice in the bottom of the 8th and once more in the 9th to pull out a 7-6 win vs the DevilDogs. Kazmir & Schilling were the starters and neither one distinguished themselves. The Sox have got to be a bit worried about Schilling at this point. this is no longer just back from his injury.Mariners up 5-0 on Yanx in the 2nd. Shawn Chacon turning back into a pumpkin maybe following 6 starts of sub-2.00 ERA in pinstripes?Oakland draws first blood against Anaheim and leads 1-0 in the 4th.I don't know who to root for in this one - either result helps the Yanx somewhat.Minnesota wins, Cleveland rained out.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Barry Zito - 9 IP, 1R, 3H, 2BB & Bartolo Colon - 9.1, 1R, 6H, 1BBhooked up in a gem tonight.Still tied 1-1 in the 10th. F-Rod in for Colon.8-3 Mariners in the 7th.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 The A's win in 11 innings - 2-1.The MFYs are down 8-3 with 1 out in the 9th.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I'm realizing with each passing day that I don't give a flying fuck what happens in the American League. It is soooooo nice to be watching my team play "meaningful games" and not to have to make my rooting interest the team that is playing the Yankees or battling them in the standings. Rooting against the Yanks makes me no better than a Yankee fan with an obsession of ripping on the Mets._____________________________This post was made under the posting designation 169) Joe McEwing
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Speak for yourself. I like Oakland. It's a reaction to my mother-in-law's bandwagoning interest in the Mariners in 2001.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I am speaking for myself. Then again, triple happiness posts are always fun._____________________________This post was made under the posting designation 169) Joe McEwing

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Mets win Overall Team of the Day without winning NL Team of the Day.Preparing for the wildcard, I guess.
Guest PiazzaFan411 Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Like I said before in yesterdays OoTS I give out NL/AL ToTD (Team of the Day) differently then OToTD (Overall Team of the Day). The Astros won the NL Team of the day on pitching. I take the regular Team of the day on pitching and fielding. I take the overall team of the day on hitting and baserunning.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 411 - would it be possible to make the images in these threads smaller? One or two big pictures are ok, but multiple large pix on this kind of thread make scrolling a hassle. Thanks.
Guest PiazzaFan411 Guests Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 No problem Scarlett I get on that
