Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 For more posterity, Matsui was robbed of a single, perhaps by Diaz not getting down to second quickly as much as by a nice play by Vizquel.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 ]It all reminds me about the complaints at Benitez picking the wrong day to blow saves. In all that time I never heard what the criteria were for a good time to blow one.against milwaukee in may is ok. against the braves twice in a week in september or against the yankees in the world series is not ok.Diaz didn't hustle to 2B last inning.Snow just tied it. 4th homer of the year geez.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 The guy in the J.T.Snow jersey ties it up at 1.

It's just pathetic how we scored. Beltran's double should've been caught, and he scores on a strikeout. Ugly._____________________________This post was made under the posting designation 171) Mo Vaughn

In all that time I never heard what the criteria were for a good time to blow one.Very well put.Im sold on Floyds off day. And i guess the lefty aspect applies to Jacobs. But please dont remind me of benetez and his trials and tribs. Sometimes I look back on those days , dealing with Looper now, and wonder which of the 2 has blown bigger should win games. I never felt as down on benetez as i do on Loop. And id ride benetez pretty bad.Cuz Loop just seems so one demensional.CRAP! JT Shnot smacks one out and ties it.Dagnabbitt.SHIT! another giant 4 bagger!, and we are down 3-1.Woodward deeked me out there. I thought it was playable.Cripes, things can turn just like that.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 "against milwaukee in may is ok"No it wasn't (not according to fans at the time) but that's a whole seperate can o' worms for another day.Not that he was going to catch it anyway - but Woodward def lost that ball, probably in the sun.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Benson gone, and not happy.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 nice throw by Diaz, but a tad late.4-1.bell dont keep em in check. We did have that guy picked off, and I could sense the team deflating when it went against em. Like how the bench wasnt screamin runnergoin! to castro on that steal. Everyone just stopped dong their part for a minute there.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Today would be a really nice day for a blown save by Armando Benitez.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Winn looks like a ballplayer, except for that lame stance.

Guest KC Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I mean really, can Beltran be any more mediocre? This isn't the time or theplace, but I'm starting to get a little impatient and worried about the nextsix years.

Like hes makin sure he stays within himself. And thats fine, but time for him to pull his head out of that turtle shell and look around.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 of course, benitez looks untouchable, layin it right on that outside black of the plate. You think the Mets shocked themselves flat after that offensive explosion vs the Dbacks? I would think theyd be all animated but the last few they looked, or seemed, so flat.Kaz keeps it alive..................

He's got my digestion tract all messed up.And if anyone posts that he had a double who wasn't actually watching ... watch out.Anyway it's over, Mets lose the last two.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Really, going all righthanded against the lefty gave them four pinch hitters available from the left side. It made no sense to let Castro bat.I've got no problem with showing bunt or actually bunting.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 ahhhhhhhhhh.he tried to adjust to that off speed but popped it. Great pitch choice there by Benitez, the bastard.i hear ya about castro. Its what i mean by defeatest when we dont see Floyd or Jacobs in that spot PH'n.Why not play the % there?Cuz you feel like 5-2 is good nuff?okay, ill shutup.Well, big series vs the phils, and its time to focus on that.

That coupled with .280 is fine with me.Ill give him this year for adjustment, and then next year i may have to join you if he dont show what we decided he was worth.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 well, Ill take the 5-2 trip and the lil winning streak (5 games is just waht i wished for) and say we have a good start and alotta work ahead of us.Chin up my bruddas. We have games that count in August, and it doesnt get any better than this.(well, course it does but that sounded good there, lol)
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I missed the whole game, but what I don't get about the lineup is why Floyd instead of Beltran. I mean, Beltran has broken bones in his face and is coming off a concussion, and without looking at their numbers, I can pretty much guarantee that Floyd is hitting lefties better than Beltran this season. Now, I realize that means we have Williams in the lineup but the difference between Williams & Beltran is smaller than that of Floyd & Woody. And what the fuck is up with Cairo at first base? I'd rather see what Jacobs can do than run a slumping Cairo out there again. argh. At least Benson was okay today.
