Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 ]METS NOTEBOOKSeo comes up, Ishii downBY ANTHONY RIEBERSTAFF WRITERAugust 3, 2005The Mets have run out of patience with struggling Kaz Ishii and are poised to replace him in the starting rotation with a name seldom heard around Shea Stadium this season. The team has decided to call up Jae Seo from Triple-A Norfolk and start him against the Cubs on Saturday, according to a person familiar with the situation.Seo, who made three starts for the Mets this season but has spent the bulk of it in the minors, is 7-4 with a 4.29 ERA for the Tides.Seo might just be keeping the seat warm for Steve Trachsel, who also will pitch Saturday, but for Double-A Birmingham as he continues his rehab assignment from back surgery. As for Ishii, the Mets apparently have tired of the pitcher they acquired in spring training to replace Trachsel. Ishii is 3-9 with a 5.04 ERA and lasted just four innings in his last outing on Sunday in Houston.http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-sbmnotes034369039aug03,0,1887997.story?coll=ny-mets-printWell, it's about time!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 YAY Jae Seo! We'll be there on Saturday, so that's much more promising.
Guest GYC Guests Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Hallelujah! That feels great. It took Willie long enough to get rid of him.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Good for Seo, who has had to endure a season of... whatever that word for sad Korean fatalistic stoicism is.It doesn't say what Ishii's destiny is.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 But the time to do that was before now. If he makes one start and then goes straight down when Trachsel gets activated, especially if he pitches well, you might be doing his psyche more harm than good. Unless something else is up...
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 of course Willie dispelled that myth in his WFAN interview and said that as of now Kaz Ishii is starting on Saturday.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Nooooooooooooooooooo..............
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Well, technically Newsday was correct, as I've been recalling Jae Seo for 24 hours now.
