Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Diskappointing last few innings after the near comeback. We didn't really deserve to win this one - getting outhit like 2/1 like we did - and when you have nights like that you need to capitalize on ALL the opportunities. Instead, we missed 2:- Mientky's GiDP in the 2nd inning- and Cammy's pop-up after closing to 6-5Zambrano was kinda unlucky early .... then he just sucked. Those who booed him should be whipped. One of the announcers (forgot which one - I caught half on TV & half on radio) mentioned that we don't have a comeback win this year of more than 2 runs. WOW!!]Who is it that's always saying they hate Met Fans? I'm starting to agreeUsually it's me, but basically we all do. Didn't you know that this is the Met fan site for Met fans who hate Met fans?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 HIndsight says that Manny Acta should've sent David Wright on Piazza's single up the middle, because Wright has good legs, and as good as that Repko arm is, Phillips fumbled a lot of outfield throws last year, which is what he did this time.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 ]Jim Tracy wrecked Kevin Collins' car, and ruined Collins' relationship with Tug McGraw to boot. OK, I'll bite. WTF?We really jumped the shark following Beltran's HR -- still no outs, but 4-5-6 retired themselves on just 5 pitches from a ragged Weaver. Cliff was 0-2 all night and Seaver was right -- he missed a fuck-me hanger from Schnoll in the 8th.Definitely a shoulda lost... but bringing up the tying run 9 times and not getting one home is a frustrating way to go.

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Zambrano wasn't unlucky early, he just sucked. Almost every ball was hit hard--Beltran made waaay too many "chase the ball down in the gap" plays for it to be bad luck. For a guy with great stuff, it's amazing that he has no put-away pitch. Kent homered on a 0-2 pitch, he lost the PITCHER on an 0-2 pitch, which is just inexcusable . . . And did anyone else think that Reyes was on the wrong side of the bag on Mientkiewicz's error? Tough loss. I tried to get out, but they kept pulling me back in . . . .
