Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Dammit. This is a frustrating game.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Our first-and-second combo seems to cost us again.
Guest KC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Nice top o' ninth by Looper.Let's bring the wood, and give the Padres their first NL east loss this year. They swept the Braves and Marlins (I think) and are 6-0 vs. NL east.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I knew as soon as Looper came in to the game that the Pads were going to score immediately.Oops, I mean that the next time he actually allows runs to score I would have known it in advance.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Reyes reaches on a miscue to open.Instead of swinging, can we try and score him Ty Cobb-style, on three steals?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Time for Beltran to earn his keep. We need a gapper to score Jose.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I like Cliffy up here.Lefty change-up artists don't usually dominate lefty hitters.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Beltran had a chance to end and inning and didn't.Luck.Changing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 MY KINGDOM FOR A FREAKIN SINGLE!!!!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Looks like you get to keep the keys to your kingdom, Knot.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Dammmmmmit. Now we got the Pads' meat vs. Loopy in inning 2.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Mets get a break an inning and have shown a phobic unwillingness to capitalize.Capitalize, men, capitalize!Yeah, Cliffie!
Guest KC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Floyd makes two plays in left he might not make in past years in the topof the 11th. Third out is routine 3U.The flow is about to turn on the maxi pads in the bottom of the 11th.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Looper gets six in a row, five of them lefties. Will he come out for a third inning? Here's hoping Willie doesn't have to make that decision.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Looper's spot is up 3rd this inning so, no, he won't be coming out if needed in the 12th.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 WOW, I didn't think he got that one ... and it made it w/20 ft to spare.Willie burns the bench and gets away with it.
Guest MiniKnight Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win! The Mets Win!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 WOW, great win, gotta love the walk off home runs, best bench in MLB, Woodie said that was his first ever game winning home run, and he means ever.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Rockin' Doc burns the bench too. Looks past Chuck Jones and Friz Freiling and goes to Rob Clampett. Nice!Well, this is one more for that MetsWalkoffs guy.The walkoff game this reminds me of was a game around 1983 when Gardenhire hit one out in Montreal in about the 13th inning with about 20 feet to spare.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I found it, hiding out in 1982. It was a 10th-inning shot off of Bryn Smith, who did pretty well for a guy pitching with a missing vowel. I also found this one while incorrectly looking in 1983, featuring a 17th inning walkoff by the doomed Dave Kingman (Hernandez would arrive a week later) after 8 2/3 scoreless by the Mets pen. Wow, I don't remember this one.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
