Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Somebody submitted this memory of Steve Swisher on the UMDB. I haven't approved it. It's silly, and most probably phony.I used to work in the Mets front office as a low level administrator. Each morning when I would come to work, I would find Steve in the parking lot eating his breakfast----always egg salad! He used to eat these huge stinking egg salad sandwiches every morning. We would always have a good time---he liked to joke a lot about his egg salad. It would always be all over the front of his uniform and in his mustache. Steve would always be covered in egg salad! Everywhere he went, it was egg salad. I never saw anyone put away so much egg salad---like a pound a day. He always said that it was the secret to his hitting career when he was a player. When I used to point out that he was a lifetime .216 hitter, we would laugh and he would spit egg salad all over me! Steve and I had some good times with his egg salad! Every time I am in a deli I think of him. I think he's dead now.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I'd say thanks, but no thanks to that submission. It's a pointless story that just doesn't ring true to me. Maybe it's the repeated pointless mentioning of egg salad that makes me dubious. Anyway, the story is rather stupid and pointless in my view. Besides, I believe that reports of his demise are rather premature.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I'm among the false-don't post it votes. And my vote is the one likely to carry the most weight.I guess the main purpose of this is to show some of the strange stuff I got. I recently kicked a post describing how the ghost of Marv Throneberry is worshipped in Central America.

Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 It's false, and not funny enough to post.
