Uh, anyone know who the John Stearns that died in 04-05 was

Yeah its out of the blue, but I'm watching Yankee Old Timers Day and during the usual "honoring those in the Yankee and baseball families that have passed since last Old Timers Day" and a "John Stearns" was mentioned. Well the former Met was a coach with the Yanks

Add to the fact that the other day he was the most popular lookup on the UMDB made me wonder if the former Met had passed.

Well since I haven't seen any RIP Dude threads or posts to any Met or baseball sites/lists I can reasonably be assured that the ex-Met catcher is still very much alive

So anyone know who the John Stearns mentioned was?

No idea,baseballreference.com has three Stearns listed, none at least played for the MFY's..

I did a search for a MFY site like this but I didn't find any that had the info UMDB and MBTN provides, did you here wrong by chance?
