EV, nice article! My favorite part is the post you made following the article though. You only had 10 "issues" with the printed piece though, surprisingly low

Here's a question I have, and something I have been wondering. How much of a difference in BA and OBP is there among the games best "offensive" players, on average? I have a theory that a hitter with a +70 or higher OBP to BA represents a hitter with good plate discipline. Thoughts?

]Without giving away any trade secrets: a high BB rate (and hence OBP - BA) can come from two completely different skills. One, pitch recognition. Two, selectivity and patience, not swinging at pitcher's strikes and going deep into the count. The first is essentially knowing the opposition and the second is knowing yourself. So although you could make a blanket statement about what a good OBP-BA is (and some people use this and call it Isolated Plate Discipline or some such), you would be lumping in guys with importantly different skills.

He really has done some amazing statistical analysis in his posts at SoSH. I had no idea he was 51 - for some reason I thought he was much younger than that. It's kind of surprising that it took this long for someone to notice what an asset he could be to a team.
