The Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles is in the process of putting its archives online, searchable and free, the way the good life would have it. They concentrate on scholarly sporting journals and journals which focus on the amateur world. But they've been gradually digitizing back issues of Baseball Magazine, starting with the beginning of the 20th century. My first search gave me this article on Walter Johnson, using that great pre-depression baseball prose.

The story goes on to congratulate the magazine on their previous work.

THE BASEBALL MAGAZINE sometime ago presented the name of Ty Cobb as the greatest player on the diamond.This was a bold step and it took genius courage to take it, for the career of a major league player is about the most uncertain thing in the world to bank on.

Anyhow, it was fun to search for "Tom Seaver," but just get a bunch of articles about amateur golf featuring his champion father.
