Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 15 Posted February 15 It took all off-season to become an ex-Met, but Professor Griff has taken his high spin rate, his four-pitch repertoire, and his damaged Achilles to San Diego, where your memories will follow.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 Sure, I'll open. The Cannister made the Mets look brilliant in April. I remember him as their top starter then, and without checking everybody else, I see that he was 4-1 with a 2.61 ERA before May 1.But things even out. He leveled off in May, looked bad in June, and got hurt for the rest of the season. But somebody's gotta be Mr. April, and maybe it was him!!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I remember thinking he was doing it with smoke and mirrors. And as much as he was good early on, he rarely went more than 5 IP. Which taxed the bullpen every start. And then just when I thought he might be for real he went back to being terrible. I’m sorry he got hurt. It would have been interesting to see if he would have bounced back, or if we had already gotten the best of him.
