Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 Not official yet, but multiple reports since last night have been informed me that the Mets' erstwhile submariner is now a Blue Jay.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 He had a delivery that reminded me of Dick Hyde, Terry Leach and Kent Tekulve.Later
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 He was elite in surrending leads
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2025 Posted December 21, 2025 Obviously I remember his delivery. That's about the only specific memory.Every once-in-a-while, the Mets get a short-term reliever that just wows, then they're gone. The first two that come to mind are Steve Reed and Mark Guthrie. Juan Padilla is an obscure one. We can add Rogers to the list.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 22, 2025 Author Posted December 22, 2025 Steve Reed may belong on the list of All-Time Best Relievers Who Never Got to Close. It isn't immediate obvious, because he (a) came up kind of late and ( spent more than half of his career pitching for Colorado, but he was a brick, year in and year out.
