Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 Did you know the Braves signed Danny Young two days ago? I did not! And I care about that sort of thing. This is clearly vengeance for A.J. Minter. You sign the Braves' broken lefthanded reliever and break him worse, and you don't think there is going to be payback for that sort of thing? It is a pretty weird deal in that they signed him to a one-year deal when he probably won't even be allowed on a mound until the second half of the season, and quite possibly late in the second half. I was thinking maybe the report was referring to a different Danny, or a different Young, or maybe a different Danny Young. But nope, it's the same cat. Our cat. Or, our former cat, anyhow.[FIMG=500]https://a1.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F0504%2Fr1487918_1296x729_16-9.jpg[/FIMG]
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 I feel like he was pretty good in 2024. Though I can't remember any specific moment. I remember there were two Youngs. And I don't remember the first name of the other one. So yay Danny!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 The other Young, à la the other Torres ten years ago, was Alex.Danny was kind of dependable before getting hurt. So it goes for Met relievers.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 Shared the name of Danny Young, the Cubs pitcher Benny Agbayani hit the game-winning grand slam off of in 2000/2001 or whatever it was in Japan. That Danny Young died young just a couple years ago.He was one of two Youngs that did well for a while in 2024, the other being Alex, though in the long run I'd have preferred to keep Alex. I remember how Danny tanked later in '24 and totally undid all the good stuff earlier in the year - he had a 2.70 ERA through September 7, then a 18.69 ERA after that, bringing his season mark to 4.54.
