With the conclusion of the season, Francisco Lindor achieved a rare feat as a Met, earning five-and-ten rights, and with it, an automatic license to veto any transfer of his contract to another team (along with, I expect, a year's supply of Rice-a-Roni).

It is hard to say, but I imagine that makes him the first such Met in a while. He is probably the first such animal to achieve such status since David Wright retired in 2018. Before that, I guess we go back to Carlos Beltran, who waived his rights back at the end of 2011.

Edwin Diaz would be sniffing five-and-ten status if he returns to the team. As it is, he is only about a month and a half short.

Zach Pop, not so much.

I believe Santana earned that right after the 2012 season (he was hurt and never pitched again in the majors, of course) but he was under Mets control through 2013.

And before Beltran:

Trachsel, 2006

Piazza, 2003

John Franco, circa 1995
