Matt Allan made his first appearance in a pro game in six years, a story that made national headlines. He was excellent, striking out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings and throwing 28 of 44 pitches for strikes. Allan pitched in the minors in 2019 after the Mets selected him in the third round but suffered major setbacks after the 2020 minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19. He then underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and continued to suffer setback after setback until now.

After not playing professionally since 2019, Matt Allan valiantly returned to go 0-3 with a 3.60 ERA in 20 innings between the St. Lucie Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones. Then he got hurt again and returned to where he is most comfortable, the 60-day IL.
