A phantom no more -- Dylan Ross finally makes MLB debut!

Dylan Ross, who was on the Mets active roster at the tail end of the 2025 season but never got into a game, has finally made his big league debut. He was a phantom major leaguer for about a year, but can now wipe phantom off the title. In his first appearance, he tossed a perfect inning in relief.

He wasn't great at Triple-A this year, posting a 6.94 ERA and 1.872 WHIP, but with the Mets being as bad as they are, the powers that be were probably like what do we have to lose?

I've been to a couple of Long Island Ducks games this year, and when a batter or new pitcher gets introduced I like to search for them on Fangraphs to see how far they got.  Basically, the profile of a typical Independent League player is somebody in his late twenties who either got a brief visit to the show, or aged out at AA or AAA.  People like Dylan Ross, basically. There was one guy who was 1 for 9 in the majors, and I can only imagine how much that one means to him.  So if a reasonable opportunity presents itself to give somebody like that a game or two before I clear space for younger guys in the offseason, I'm doing it.

I'm the same way. If a team is like the Mets are now, give the career minor leaguers their shot at glory.

This.  So much this.  They should be giving all their Crash Davises and Moonlight Grahams their shot. Was easier in the days of unlimited September callups, but still. Dylan Ross has been through a lot and that clean inning in The Show means the world to him.
