Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 9 Posted August 9 The Mets have selected the contract of 28-year-old career minor leaguer Jack Weisenburger, while optioning Xzavion Curry. Weisenburger is 1-5 with a 7.22 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) this year at Triple-A. His WHIP is 1.567. Last year, he was 1-11 with a 5.66 ERA in 32 games (15 starts) for the independent Hagerstown Flying Boxcars. I have a hunch David Stearns is being beneficent and giving all these career minor leaguers their shot at Major League glory, considering it's a lost season. Yan, Seelinger, Weisenburger. We almost saw Bryce Conley and Dan Hammer earlier this year. All are 28 or older. Still would like to see some actual younger prospects, but it is what it is.
