The season is saved, as the Mets are signing another hot hitter in Christopher Morel, who has batted .162 with zero home runs and 1 RBI in 68 at-bats in 2026. This is on the back of a superstar 2025, when he hit .219/.289/.396 in 278 ABs. For his career, he competes for the top spot among modern greats, as he owns a .220/.296/.407 line. On the bright side, he's hit 20+ home runs a couple times ... at the expense of one strikeout every 2.9 at-bats.

Oh great, another swing hard and hope to make contact hitter.  I am tired of a line up full of low batting average, high strike out rate guys.  I want to see more disciplined players that don't chase every breaking ball with OBP skills. I don't care how far they can hit the ball, if they can't make contact reliably.  The "Flail and Fail" offense, just isn't going to build a reliable offense.

I realize you can only expect so much from the players available over the wire, but I would like someone that can at least make contact.

They have a whole lineup and roster of people they could actually be trading now as we near the trade deadline, and trading actually gets real returns. Yet, we're still acquiring the detritus no one else wants.
