Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 12:46 AM Posted yesterday at 12:46 AM 3-2/3 IP, 98 pitches, seven earned ... and that's starting with a 1-2-3 1st I don't know what you do with this guy.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 12:48 AM Posted yesterday at 12:48 AM Even the Brooklyn Nets are having a better night than the Mets
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Slick play. I never thought that inning would end.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 12:56 AM Posted yesterday at 12:56 AM Senga's ERA is about that same as Jim Bouton's was in the Metro League

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM Soto hurt? Ridiculous.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM Well, we don't want him to play too many games with Lindor. They've already appeared in the same lineup nine times over the first 78 games. I think that's enough for a while.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 01:07 AM Posted yesterday at 01:07 AM Amazing that Cabrera is still out there. Mets swinging at near everything now.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:09 AM Posted yesterday at 01:09 AM Why not? Not like they're gonna score.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM Because swinging at everything is the way to lose. Vientos just became perhaps the first guy to earn a walk after being down 0-and-3.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM I look away for 30 seconds and that fella is on the ground. What in the world happened? Was he blinded by David Stearns' genius and knocked off his feet?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Cabrera sure earned the win on that play. Why the fuck people are reacting to his injury by doing the "Seven Nation Army" chant is beyond me.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Getting Edgy to whine is enough for one evening. My day is complete. Have a wonderful night, all.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:29 AM Posted yesterday at 01:29 AM Soto injured, calf? This is absolutely one of the most brutal painful and disappointing seasons of my Mets fandom

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM Some reporting that Soto was wincing on swings If it's an oblique that fat lady is primping up LGM
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 01:43 AM Posted yesterday at 01:43 AM Amazing that the booth is confused and the DJ plays "What's Goin' On"? I think PCA could have broken contact in between his first hand and trailing hand, or at least the Mets might have convinced themselves of that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM It may be a ticky-tack call, but once the Mets make the challenge, the umps in the replay booth have to call what they see.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 01:56 AM Posted yesterday at 01:56 AM Bichette walks matter. Soto injuries matter more.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Mets PotG is the replay crew in Chelsea.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Seven of the nine Cubs runs scored with two outs.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM So, the Young-vs.-Waggy leftfielding contest isn't exactly a heated battle.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 02:27 AM Posted yesterday at 02:27 AM OK, so that call reversal at 2B that confused the entire booth. Keith kept saying the the ball was 'dead' which was never the case. That it was often treated as if it were, the example of umps telling/signaling runners to slow down if/when they were running on ball four was mentioned, should have never happened and was part of the problem leading baseball into the age where the time between ABs and even pitches was treated as dead time even though it wasn't. Yes, the runner 'is awarded' 2nd base due to ball four but if he chooses, by choice or via ignorance, to go in with a head-first dive he does so at his own risk and there's no reason why he shouldn't be subject to being put out if he comes off the base.

It shouldn't even be controversial. Yeah, it's ticky-tack, but if people slide like that, well, they do that at their own risk.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:33 AM Posted yesterday at 02:33 AM Mets thumb their noses at history with a ninth-inning walk. That's a 1.000 OPS!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM Ninth inning OPS on the night down to .500.

Yeah, it's ticky-tack, but if people slide like that, well, they do that at their own risk. The reason it is controversial, and I've talked about this in the past, is because of the slow morphing of baseball from a game where the ball was considered live and in play unless specifically stated otherwise, to one where the opposite was true or at least assumed to be. Those who found themselves confused did so because they assumed that nothing was allowed to happen once ball four was indicated.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM A half-decent performance by the starter might've made this a game.
Nick Morabito Syracuse Mets - AAA CF On Tuesday, Morabito went 2-for-4 with a walk. He also stole his 23rd and 24th bases. Explore Nick Morabito News >
