ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 I'm trying to come up with "Stearns guys" that carried their weight this seasonI've got Griffin Canning for the time before he got hurtAfter that it's crickets except for the occasional out from the bullpen I don't know if Stearns will pin any of it on himself. I kinda think he won't
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Man, the Mets are playing some bad baseball right now
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Each day is a new low water markThis run is a reverse of the 1973 Ya Gotta Believe run. One team was borderline invincible and this run has been the polar opposite Doesn't someone within the Mets, players or management have to take responsibility here? They are playing piss poorly day in and day outSteve Cohen asked the fans to show up this season. They have done their part"Do you ever feel like you've been cheated"I do
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Anyone else tired of Lindor's walkup music?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Zero bases on balls for the Mets. The Rangers got three of them in the first 2/3 of an inning. No Texas-leaguers allowed against Texas, Juan.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Let's see if the rally sneakers help
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Well, nice over the shoulder catch of a short fly to LCF by Lindor. Quick spin and throw to second to double off the runner. Rare highlight for the Mets of late.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 A "rally sneaker" in one hand and a beer in the other. Might a well put his shoe back on and get a second beer to make watching the Mets more bearable.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 I can handle deGrom betraying his Mets roots. I can handle Bochy betraying his Mets roots. But Phil Maton is a bridge too far!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Well, they do this again tomorrow The Schaefer voting is taking up less of my time anyway
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Let the alumni guys play the Rangers tomorrow
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Wow. Vientos takes a 3-2 fastball (92 mph) right down the middle, then starts walking toward the dug out. That ending pretty much sums this team up of late. A virtually total lack of starting pitching, an over worked bullpen, and an offense that seems to be feely the pressure. Not a recipe for winning.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 They could introduce David Wright as the Mets new manager in a Steinbrennian way
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 Fluffed up the kid's ERA some, I'm guessing.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 He is sporting a 8.49 ERA through 11.2 innings over his 3 starts. He likely was promoted too soon out of desperation and necessity.

Funny thing (ok--not so funny) was I thought when he had men on first and third and two outs, "Cool. He gets this next guy Burger to pop up or strike out, and he's out of the jam," and the floodgates opened. So near and yet so far.
